Questions Washington DC homeowners ask

How fast can you get to my home in Washington DC?

Call us and we will give you a real window rather than a guess. Summer heat waves and the first hard cold snap are our busiest stretches, so same-day slots fill early in the morning. If your AC is out and someone in the house is elderly or very young, tell us when you call and we will factor that in.

My AC runs all day but the house still feels sticky. What is going on?

That is usually a humidity problem, and it is common through a Mid-Atlantic summer. An oversized system cools the air fast and shuts off before it pulls enough moisture out, so you get a clammy 74 degrees. Low refrigerant, a dirty coil or a blower running at the wrong speed can do the same thing. We measure the temperature split and static pressure to tell which it is.

What should I check before I call for air conditioner repair?

Five safe things. Check that the thermostat has fresh batteries and is set to cool with a target below room temperature. Look at your breaker panel for a tripped breaker. Change the filter if it is gray. Clear leaves, mulch and trash bags away from the outdoor unit. Walk the house and confirm supply vents are open and not blocked by furniture. Anything involving gas, refrigerant or high voltage is ours to handle.

Do you work outside Washington DC?

Yes. We cover Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia along with Washington DC. If you own a second home or a rental across a state line, we can usually cover both addresses on the same account.

I smell gas near my furnace. What do I do?

Leave the building right away and take everyone with you, including pets. Do not flip switches or use the thermostat on your way out. From outside, call 911 or your gas utility. Once they have cleared the property, call us and we will come out for the heater repair and check the whole system before it runs again. Treat a carbon monoxide alarm the same way.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads against the actual room temperature. That short conversation tells us what parts to load on the truck.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why, before any work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system through a full cycle and measure temperatures at the supply and return. If something upstream caused the failure, we tell you so it does not repeat.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know salt airCoastal homes lose condenser coils to salt corrosion years before inland systems do. We look for fin damage and pitted line sets on every visit, because a clean-looking unit can still be shedding capacity from the outside in.
  • Humidity is part of the jobHurricane-season air loads a system in ways a temperature reading will not show. If your house feels clammy at 74 degrees, we look at run times, airflow and drainage rather than just adding refrigerant and leaving.
  • Crawlspace realitiesHigh water tables mean wet ground under ductwork, rusted plenums and condensate lines with nowhere good to drain. We check what is happening under the floor, since that is often where comfort problems actually begin.
  • Straight answersWe tell you what failed, what it will take to fix, and whether a repair makes sense on an older system. No pressure to replace something that has honest years left in it, and no vague diagnosis.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
