Duct Replacement

We replace failed and deteriorated duct systems in homes across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington DC. Duct replacement is the right call when the ducts themselves are past repair: crushed flex runs, crumbling insulation, mold-stained liners, or trunk lines that leak faster than we can seal them. Signs include rooms that never reach temperature, dust that returns days after cleaning, and a system that runs constantly. Call us and we will inspect the runs, measure airflow, and tell you honestly whether repair or replacement makes sense.

What Duct Replacement Actually Involves

We start in the crawlspace, attic or basement and map every run before anything comes out. Old duct is removed and hauled off, then we lay out new trunk and branch sizing based on the room-by-room load, not on whatever was there before. Connections get sealed with mastic, seams get supported so they do not sag, and insulation is matched to the space. In a humid region with high water tables under many crawlspaces, we keep duct off the ground and check vapor barriers while we are under there.

What We Check And Install

We check static pressure, return air capacity, supply and return balance, and the condition of the plenum and air handler cabinet. Undersized returns are one of the most common problems we find, and adding return path does more for comfort than most homeowners expect. We install rigid metal trunk where it belongs, insulated flex for branch runs, properly sized boots and registers, and new dampers so the system can be balanced. Once it is running, we measure airflow at the registers instead of guessing.

How We Decide Replacement Is The Right Call

Repair wins more often than people think, so we look for specific evidence first. If a system has a few loose connections or one crushed run, we fix that and stop. Replacement makes sense when leakage is spread across the whole system, when insulation has fallen away or absorbed moisture, when interior liner is deteriorating, or when the duct was never sized for the equipment attached to it. We show you what we found, explain both options, and let you pick without pressure.

Duct Replacement — quick answers

Can you replace ductwork without replacing my AC or furnace?

Yes. Duct replacement is a separate job. If your equipment is in good shape, new duct sized correctly for it often solves comfort complaints on its own and puts less strain on the system.

How long does duct replacement take?

Most single-family homes take one to three days depending on how many runs there are and how tight the crawlspace or attic access is. We give you a timeline after the inspection, not before.

Will new ductwork help with humidity?

Often, yes. Leaky duct in a damp crawlspace pulls humid air into the system. Sealed, properly sized, well-insulated duct lets your cooling equipment remove moisture the way it was designed to.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads against the actual room temperature. That short conversation tells us what parts to load on the truck.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why, before any work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system through a full cycle and measure temperatures at the supply and return. If something upstream caused the failure, we tell you so it does not repeat.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know salt airCoastal homes lose condenser coils to salt corrosion years before inland systems do. We look for fin damage and pitted line sets on every visit, because a clean-looking unit can still be shedding capacity from the outside in.
  • Humidity is part of the jobHurricane-season air loads a system in ways a temperature reading will not show. If your house feels clammy at 74 degrees, we look at run times, airflow and drainage rather than just adding refrigerant and leaving.
  • Crawlspace realitiesHigh water tables mean wet ground under ductwork, rusted plenums and condensate lines with nowhere good to drain. We check what is happening under the floor, since that is often where comfort problems actually begin.
  • Straight answersWe tell you what failed, what it will take to fix, and whether a repair makes sense on an older system. No pressure to replace something that has honest years left in it, and no vague diagnosis.
