The independent heating and cooling company across Hampton Roads and coastal Virginia

Central AC Installation

We install central air conditioning systems in homes across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Washington DC. This is the full job: outdoor condenser, indoor coil, line set, drain, thermostat and the ductwork connections that tie it together. Most homeowners call us when a system has quit for good, needs repeated air conditioning repair every summer, or cannot keep up with humidity. Call us and we will come measure the house, look at your ducts, and give you real options before anything gets ordered.

What a central AC installation actually involves

We start by pulling the old equipment and checking what it left behind. That includes the pad or brackets the condenser sits on, the condensate drain, the electrical disconnect and the line set running through the wall. New equipment gets set, brazed, evacuated and charged, then wired to a thermostat we confirm works with it. We seal the plenum connections and check airflow at the registers before we leave. In coastal areas we pay attention to how the outdoor unit is sited so salt spray and standing water are not sitting on the coil.

What we check and install

Before we quote anything we measure the home rather than matching the old BTU rating, because oversized systems short cycle and leave the air clammy. We look at duct sizing, return air, insulation and how many rooms run hot. We check the crawlspace, since high water tables in parts of the region put drain lines and duct boards in damp air. Then we install the condenser, indoor coil or air handler, drain with a safety switch, filter cabinet, thermostat and any duct repairs the new system needs to breathe.

How we decide replacement is the right call

We would rather fix something than sell you a system. If a repair gets you several more seasons, we say so. Replacement makes sense when the compressor has failed, when the refrigerant type is obsolete and leaking, when the coil is corroded through, or when you have paid for air conditioner repair three summers running. Age matters too. If the cabinet is rusted out and the ducts are the real problem, we will tell you that before you spend money on new equipment that cannot fix bad airflow.

Central AC Installation — quick answers

How long does a central AC installation take?

Most straightforward changeouts take one full day. If we are correcting duct problems, moving the outdoor unit, or running a new line set and drain, plan on two days. We will tell you which before we start.

Can I keep my existing ductwork?

Often yes, but we inspect it first. Undersized returns, crushed flex runs and leaky joints will hold back a new system. If the ducts need work we quote it separately so you can see what you are paying for.

Does the outdoor unit need to move?

Sometimes. If it sits where water pools, where salt air blows straight across the coil, or too tight against the house for airflow, we will suggest a better spot and explain what relocating involves.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads against the actual room temperature. That short conversation tells us what parts to load on the truck.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. You get a plain explanation of what failed and why, before any work starts.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and verify

We make the repair, then run the system through a full cycle and measure temperatures at the supply and return. If something upstream caused the failure, we tell you so it does not repeat.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know salt airCoastal homes lose condenser coils to salt corrosion years before inland systems do. We look for fin damage and pitted line sets on every visit, because a clean-looking unit can still be shedding capacity from the outside in.
  • Humidity is part of the jobHurricane-season air loads a system in ways a temperature reading will not show. If your house feels clammy at 74 degrees, we look at run times, airflow and drainage rather than just adding refrigerant and leaving.
  • Crawlspace realitiesHigh water tables mean wet ground under ductwork, rusted plenums and condensate lines with nowhere good to drain. We check what is happening under the floor, since that is often where comfort problems actually begin.
  • Straight answersWe tell you what failed, what it will take to fix, and whether a repair makes sense on an older system. No pressure to replace something that has honest years left in it, and no vague diagnosis.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
